Christina Briggs Winslow comes to San Francisco after 15 years in New York City, where she was on the faculty of Hofstra University, Queens College and the Joffrey Jazz & Contemporary Summer Intensive. She has taught Contemporary Technique and Repertory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the TseKh Summer Dance School in Moscow, Russia. After receiving her MFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she joined the faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor for three years. Christina has a passion for studying anatomy and somatic practices. She has been a Pilates Instructor since 1998. Trained by Fran Lehen (a protégé of Carola), she holds certifications from both the Pilates Method Alliance and the Kane School of Core Integration. She has also studied ideo-kinesis and anatomy with Irene Dowd and Alexander Technique with Luc Vanier. In her choreography, she collaborates with other artists, uses physically demanding movement and complex partnering relationships to explore the human element in dance. She Co-Directed Incidents Dance in NYC from 1998-2011 and was selected to present work at Clark Studio Theater at Lincoln Center, Dixon Place, Joyce SoHo, Pace University, St. Mark’s Church and University Settlement. Also in NYC, she was a performer and Rehearsal Director for Heidi Latsky Dance for ten years. In her first foray living on the West Coast, Christina is dancing with geraldcaseldance and teaching at LINES Dance Center.
